I am honored to have the opportunity to share my insights and experiences with you through this interview for the Hellenic Business Association. I appreciate your interest in the recent changes in leadership at Metropol Palace and the ongoing developments our group of companies.
You entered the world of the hotel industry in 2009 and recently you have been appointed as a General Manager of the hotel Metropol Palace. What is the biggest challenge in your new job position, and which aspect of it do you enjoy the most?
Entering the role of General Manager at Metropol Palace has indeed been a thrilling journey. The biggest challenge in this position has been to navigate the dynamic landscape of the hospitality industry, which is known for its constant evolution. However, I find great joy in leading a team dedicated to providing exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our guests. The hospitality industry is people-centric, and the human aspect, both in terms of guests and our team, is what I enjoy the most.
Metropol Palace is a luxury independent hotel, moving from Marriott to the new chain you will announce in the period ahead of us. How did Metropol Palace develop during this period?
Metropol Palace, has continually evolved, focusing on innovation and luxury to exceed guest expectations. As part of our commitment to refresh the Metropol Palace concept, we are excited to announce the renovation of our largest conference room, Ivo Andric. This initiative reflects our dedication to providing modern, state-of-the-art facilities, aligning with our strategy to set new industry standards. The renovation signifies our proactive approach to meet the dynamic needs of our guests and reinforces our position as a leader in luxury hospitality. We look forward to unveiling the revitalized Ivo Andric conference room and continuing to provide an exceptional guest experience.
The hospitality industry is known for its ever-changing nature and challenges that can arise at any moment. How important is a good team work in these situations?
Teamwork is the backbone of success in the hospitality industry. The ever-changing nature of our field requires seamless collaboration among our staff to address challenges promptly and deliver exceptional service. A cohesive team ensures that we can adapt to any situation and maintain our commitment to providing an outstanding guest experience.
Green initiatives, more personalized service and bigger focus on health-centric products and services are only some or the hospitality industry trends. Which are the latest industry trends and which ones are you implementing in your business?
In line with industry trends, we are placing a strong emphasis on green initiatives, personalized service, and health-centric offerings. Sustainability is at the forefront of our operations, from eco-friendly practices to sourcing locally. We are also incorporating the latest technology to enhance the guest experience and ensure seamless operations.
Which of your business plans and services would you like to single out?
Our commitment to personalized service remains a cornerstone of our business plans, catering to the distinctive needs of our guests. Additionally, we've expanded health-centric services in response to the growing focus on well-being. Notably, our Twenty Two restaurant on the 10th floor of our hotel, proudly boasts the Michelin Recommendation for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024. To mark the beginning of the year, we organized the inaugural Michelin Masterclass, inviting chefs from Belgrade restaurants with the National Tourism Organization of Serbia, showcasing our dedication to culinary excellence and fostering collaboration within the local gastronomic community.
This year the Metropol Palace marks 17 years since joining the Association. What does the Association represent for you and, as an active member of the HBA, are you satisfied with its work?
The Hellenic Business Association holds great significance for us as an active member for the past 17 years. It represents a platform for networking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas within the Greek business community in Belgrade. I am satisfied with the Association's work, and I look forward to continued engagement and collaboration in the future.
